The conception of “the Karma Bus” was conceived within our (old) forum… The Karma bus has now been constructed and is REAL. It is being driven by our popular forum member “Johnny Rotten” and a workcovervictimsdiary.com happily provides the fuel. More details of the bus’ special technical and operating features can be found on our forum.
The bus rules broadly operate within the domain of karma, where we do our very best, but leave the results (of our driving trips) to the insurance company of the people who board the bus! Independent medical doctors and case managers are among the people booked for a trip on the Karma bus.

Dr Norman Rose, Psychiatrist who bullied me in assessment, wrote a very biased report full of lies. Can be found often appearing in courts both for injured workers and against. He’s in the trough, but he’s no healer. Travels from state to state to pontificate on the condition of injured workers! Hired gun will dance to anyone’s tune.
I agree Dr Norman Rose would have to be the most pathetic Dr, if that’s what you would call him. One of his main points in determining my depression was that I was neatly dressed and had a well trimmed beard and therefore in his opinion I was not depressed, maybe if he spent a week at my place he might change his opinion. His report made no sense at all and the amount of errors he made for a Dr were inexcusable seems as he had all the medical evidence in front of him. By the end of the assessment I was totally confused.
I was actually traumatised by him. I thought he would be professional and his assessment helpful to me. Oh what an eye opener he was. Hired gun was all I could think looking back on it. He failed to read or take note of any of the reports from my treating doctor who had known me for years, and referred to the eleven pages of notes of all the bullying I’d endured in 3 months as “she gave me some document to read”. My own psychiatrist took over 5 hour long consults to get enough of the history from me to be able to diagnose me. How can any professional even accept that they can do a realistic assessment of the health of a traumatised person in less than forty minutes.

It appears that, from this case, and from quite a few injured workers we have heard from that this ‘doctor B’ is not very, ahum, honest in his “assessments”. If any consolation it also appears that Dr B is also well known to courts, lawyers and judges for not being “honest” and his opinion therefore may have very little, ahum, “weight”.

Oh the lies the ,arrogance.Coroner in Hobart very familiar with him. That’s all I need to say. Described by court as bumptitious. The only word I will repeat here. Must read ” No safe place” four corners just google his name. His actions will make you sick.
People like this should not be allowed anywhere near a sick, injured person, let alone be given a golden ticket to write and say lies about honest injured workers who , unlike him have a very clean slate!!!!
Agree totally Sarah. I saw him many times in the Workover. He was somewhat vapid, manipulative in his interrogation style, and given to suggesting in his reports for women of a certain age with psychiatric issues, that their psychiatric injuries were the result of menopause. I know this cos I compared my reports with ones he’d written for other women.
Just had Dr John Hooper basically say my spinal injury is healed and all now degenaration. He had the gall to tell me he was going to save workcover alot of money and I spent all of 5 mins in consultation. What can I do. I have just been granted serious injury cert and had just found that Insurance comp. ha accepted pain and suffering and liability. Insurance comp say they may termninate everything now. Help!!!
@Jennifer – so sorry to read about your terrible situation. However, like Pauline says, do not panic. You may want to read the following case: Xchanging case manager illegally downgrades serious injury certificate, whereby a case manager (VIC) took it upon her (uneducated!) self to illegally downgrade a serious injured worker’s impairment rating from 40 something % to 20% after “surveillance” was conducted on the injured worker, who was then sent to a very biased IME to “help with the downgrading of the injury” based on “malingering” – WTF! In this case the injured worker sustained their injury before the common law entitlements were reinstated (so, under the Kennett Gov), and this may be a reason why it was “easier” to downgrade a – frankly – legally binding serious injury certificate.
The good news is that this injured worker contacted us and was referred onto our great lawyer, and as far as we know things are back on track for the injured worker…
So, please hang on, hang in ! Go see your lawyer immediately to 1) get a better understanding of what is going on (reason for downgrading) and 2) what appeals can be made. If the downgrading was done ‘illegally” there is no reason to fear anything, on the contrary, your case manager, your insurance company and even that dodgy IME should be very worried now.

I didn’t know they could reassess you once a serious injury certificate was granted. How awful! Try not to let the confusion and panic get you down. Breathe. When you’re calmer think about what your next step might be.
Call your lawyer and demand and explanation? Challenge this guys report with one from your own practitioner? Insist on seeing a Medical Panel? Really you need to get advice about your next move, but wait till you’re calm enough to be able to comprehend the information and advice you get.

I also told my GP about sex related problems which is the direct consequence of the work injury, he doesn’t show to have any specific experience but he also didn’t refer me to any specialist (maybe he just doesn’t know anything about) so why are Doctors so narrow minded??
You know X I’m thinking a lot may just come from ( my observation ) shit what if I cramp, what if its so painful and I do more injury, which are quite real, as I’ve seen MP cramp in the top of the thigh and it aint nice. An osteopath – Dr Rodney Rowe- (VIC)- has been convicted and fined $16,000 after pleading guilty to fraudulently obtaining payments from WorkSafe.
Rodney Rowe pleaded guilty to billing WorkSafe at a total cost of $10,089.60 for 184 treatments which were not delivered between March 2009 and June 2010.
Dr Rowe, 35 of Caulfield South, is a registered osteopath who trades under the name ‘East St Kilda Sports and Spinal Clinic’ in Dandenong Road, East St Kilda.
He faced four charges laid by WorkSafe under the Accident Compensation Act and one of defrauding the Transport Accident Commission of $3970.60.
Apart from the $16,000 fine for the WorkSafe fraud charges, he was also fined $5000 in relation to the TAC charge.
In sentencing Dr Rowe this afternoon, Magistrate John Lesser said the workers compensation system placed professionals in a privileged position that relied on their integrity.
He said that while Dr Rowe had an impeccable work history, these were serious dishonesty offences at a striking level.
Dr Rowe’s lawyer, Marita Altman, argued against the imposition of a conviction saying it could adversely affect his ability to practice.
WorkSafe became concerned about Dr Rowe’s billing practices after a routine analysis of claims and information from payments.
WorkSafe’s Executive Director for Injury Support and Service, Len Boehm, said the agency had an obligation to prosecute cases of fraud to protect honest healthcare professionals.
“The vast majority of healthcare professionals who work with injured workers provide vital services which helps injured people back to work and leading the life they want,” Mr Boehm said.
“However, a case like this one can undermine the work of honest treatment professionals as well as community confidence in the workers compensation system.
Mr Boehm said accurate record keeping would prevent the personal, professional and commercial impact that a prosecution would bring

Funny how so much of the systemic ripping off is down to “inaccurate record keeping” and/or feral workers, except of course, when it’s an injured worker caught with their fingers in the till. Then it’s greedy malingering dishonest leeches and that’ll be jail for you and your wheelchair. His little “errors” netted him over $10,000 which is equal to 8 months income for the likes of Injured Worker me on a Disability Support Pension.
It seems that those who profit from rorting the system are receiving discriminatory treatments from the legal system. Rorting injured workers end up in jail. Rorting insurance agents, and service providers get financial slaps on the wrist but retain their position in the Workover. Basically the “at the trough” culture of the Workover protects its own.
This guy has his solicitor arguing for a light sentence because it wouldn’t be fair to mess up his career. Well what about my career then, and the careers of every other Injured Worker? The Workover shatters our careers.

The doctor I got for the Ime hang on maybe he has a nervous twitch maybe that’s y he when holding my shoulder ripped me as hard as possible to and fro.With a twitch like that would he be able to operate or drive a car.I’d rather be following him than driving towards him.
