ASIC accused of failing to end bullying

In this article, 27% of staff have reported bullying at ASIC, while human resources have responded that in the same period only one (unsubstantiated) complaint has been received. Something doesn't make sense here. Either HR are not telling the truth or there are only 4 staff memebers in the team...A link to the article is below.

Hoping to ask for support if possible for Kris Vanston and The Scheme Project.

Please read and sign the petition to support a documentary being made of the current WorkCover system. If you can pledge funds even better. WorkCover affects every Australian worker and employer, not to mention those of you who are practitioners and professionals having to write endless reports. Let’s make it right!

As frustrating as it is being left without any income and medical support after my workplace accident and having my fair share of rants to expose, I actually appreciated Kris’s professional approach to his project and his intent to make the documentary up front but not personal. He’s not looking for tantrums, witch hunts, singling out of fraudsters and unethical behaviour but rather aiming at exposing the facts in hope of making a change.

He’d also like to hear from anyone willing to talk to him about their experience with the system.

Read more here and follow the links to show your support.

    Cheers

Here’s another of those Surveys from the Workover. This time you can comment on the invisible nature of Injured Workers in the Workover especially when it comes to Return to Work, or rave on about any pet Injured Worker related subject:

    http://survey.peoplelogic.com.au/survey.php?sid=8255&name=worksafe-awards-survey&puid=zzzz507f51ba9944e665

They don’t give so much space for responses as the last one, but I managed to spread the following rave over a couple of response boxes.

“I’m a seriously injured worker who’s having a great deal of trouble getting Workcover assistance to retrain and return to work. In fact, I am being obstructed in my attempts. Where is the room in this website for Injured Workers to have a voice in the decisions made in regard to benchmarking return to work practices?

Give space to Injured Workers to provide critique of the RTW system from their point of view. RTW for seriously injured workers starts with support and resourcing from their Case Management. Case Management is all too often abusing the RTW procedures to aggravate Injured Workers. Workers being forced back to work when their medical treaters certify them as unfit for all work, others persistently denied all assistance for returning to work. Highlight detrimental approach Workcover Case Management takes to the issue of Return To Work”

For those who are with Aaaalianz in WA – good news, Mr Moffat who has a very poor “rating” with injured workers has been “snapped up” by GIO (Suncorp)… but this means bad news for those injured workers with GIO in WA.

    GIO snaps up Allianz boss

Suncorp’s GIO has strengthened its workers compensation portfolio with the appointment of Robert Moffat as executive manager, WA/NT Workers compensation claims.

Moffat joins GIO from Allianz Australia, where he has worked since 2001, most recently serving as the manager of the company’s WA workers compensation business unit from May 2010. From 2002-2004, he held the equivalent position in Allianz’s NT workers compensation business unit.

He has more than 20 years’ experience in claims, account management and underwriting roles to the Workers Compensation team, including 10 years’ experience in management-level roles.

Moffat will start in the role in July. David Hutton, who has been acting executive manager, WA/NT workers compensation claims for the past few months, will return to Newcastle in his previous role as senior leader, NSW managed funds tail claims after a brief handover.

“Robert’s appointment is part of our ongoing strategy to build a national approach across the workers compensation portfolio,” said Paul Smeaton, executive general manager, GIO statutory claims.

“Robert brings a holistic set of skills, strong existing relationships within the WA and NT markets, and years of experience in people management. He will help the WA and NT teams make great steps forward in the pursuit of a leading position in both schemes,” he added.
