About Workcovervictims

We are the authors, co-authors, seriously injured workers and invisible supporters (incl. abled family members and friends) behind A Diary of a WorkCover Victim. We hope this site, our and many other injured workers’ stories will somehow help other injured workers navigating the murky waters of the workcover system, and, at the very least, teach you to be extremely diligent in finding out your legitimate rights, always questioning the “system” in order to keep some sort of control within the workcover system. The workers compensation is – in our opinion- extremely adversarial and they use tactics to wear you down, to make you emotionally bleed out, to break you, all in order to weaken your position and to maximise their insane profits.

I so much wish I could attend – and I am sure many other Victorian injured sods would like too!

I am playing with the idea of starting an informal “support group” in Melbourne (Vic) for injured workers and their supporters. Would anyone (VIC) be interested?

Any chance of having one in Wollongong.

        Workcover Victim

We need to talk about a model that can be extended out to other states _ there are plans, but we first need to get the model right and then funding. I am hoping unions view it as something worth investing in because WorkCover won’t – too much to hide and the last thing they need is injured workers sharing horror stories. This site and IWSN scare them enough I’m sure.

Yes, Wollongong is in our plans – we will need contacts in each area to help coordinate. Please feel free to contact me on the above – I will take your details and see what we can make happen.

I agree, QLD has it’s own fair share of issues facing injured workers. Even spoke to injured workers in QLD and Tasmania just recently which goes to show, regardless of the workers comp and rehab system – injured workers are treated poorly in most states.

Is there any state in Australia where injured workers are being treated with dignity and respect?
