The Hunter’s peak union body, Trades Hall, says the New South Wales Government must not tamper with workers entitlements as it seeks to make the WorkCover scheme more cost efficient, reports ABC Online, Newcastle.
Trades Hall warning on WorkCover NSW overhaul

The Government says a Parliamentary Inquiry into the scheme is needed to address a $4 million blowout and it has flagged a rise in premiums of up to 28 per cent.
“I mean how much is an injured worker’s life worth to the family?” he said.
“So when Governments talk about deficits there is always concern that cuts are in the air, but WorkCover NSW does an exceptionally good job with the limited resources that it’s got.
“In actual fact it needs more resources to make sure that worksites are safe and there’s money there to pay for injured workers.”
