We here at aworkcovervictimsdiary.com have received correspondence from a person who has their own website about workcover matters. The person was upset that we had used a guide for injured workers on our website – a guide which was created by them to supposedly help injured workers. This document is publicly available on scribd and we thought they would be happy that we were sharing this guide with injured workers – because afterall, the more help we can offer injured workers, the better, right? Information is power, right?
Well, according to this person, no. They are angry that we used their guide on our website without paying them for the privilege.

[Be grateful we have the decency to censor your name and site]
Our injured administrator here at aworkcovervictimsdiary.com apologised profusely to this person, and then took the offending material down, however I have a few words to say to the complainant.
SHAME ON YOU. Instead of working in collaboration with us to help victims of workplace injury you have decided to profit. Instead of helping us and forging together to create a stronger force to be reckoned with, you have instead tried to personally profit off helping injured workers. I am disgusted.
How dare you sell injured workers a guide for how to deal with workcover. HOW DARE YOU profit off the troubled system that is screwing injured workers over.
When you fight these causes from a place of truth, justice, and a sense of what is right – you have integrity and you succeed no matter what the outcome. When you try to profit at the expense of others, you are as bad as the people you fight against and you will never succeed.

Insane! In what world do we live? How can an injured worker try and PROFIT from a “guide” -that contains much less useful information than this blog for example- on the BACK of poverty stricken injured workers who are seeking support, help and navigation through this filthy, messy, tactic-rich workers compensation system? You ought to be deeply ashamed of yourself indeed. I can only deduce from this behaviour that you are envious of a workcovervictimsdiary’s popularity, and that you are immoral. Instead of jumping on the wagon and joining forces to fight our rotten system, YOU choose to make money from nothing more than a “scam” “guide”, for all the information you put in your “guide” is publicly available and so much more for free here and on like-minded sites.
All I can tell you is that you will deeply REGRET not having joined forces.
To all injured workers out here in Australia (Victoria) beware – some people portraying themselves as “activists” want nothing more than to make a quick buck on your misery.
I am utterly shocked. This is despicable. Also, if this person is allegedly injured and receiving workcover benefits, that person would not be legally entitled to make money (an income) by any means. And I thought that injured victims could all be trusted to be on your side.
Thank you Actavista for writing and posting this article. I must admit that I was very shocked when I received the “copyrights” notice from this person, demanding money for a “guide” of which the content and/or topics are free and so much better covered on this site (and on other like-minded sites). Besides the “guide” was publicly published and available under the scribd documents and s such was only “published” on our site under forms and booklets as an “iframe” which links to the original source of the said “guide”. it’s not like the “guide” itself was downloaded, copied and published here.
In addition this person also had the privilege of having been contacted very early on when we launched our blog and to have their site on our blogroll (below) and under our contacts and useful links (resources), however the favour was NEVER even returned – how selfish. Needless to say that we will no longer make any further efforts to collaborate, and it will come at this person’s (and site’s) GREAT LOSS (just watch this space).
Hi Friends,
I strongly agree with all your comments & I am not defending the person who complained, but I just wanted to say that due to my injury & medication, I am not always my happy joyful self. I have been snapping at my family members who I know where only trying to help me & I said things that were completely out of character for me, like snapping over a tiny little insignificant issue. I also had others come to me & tell me that I had hurt someone’s feelings with my out burst/s. I was very upset that I had done that, not realising at the time that it had been taken like that. I obviously apologised, but also tried to tell my family & friends to please, please don’t write me off because I need their support right now.
So when I read thru your story, I was also thinking that maybe the author was thinking they have been screwed enough by the WC system & maybe this was their way of getting some of their self worth back. Just a few thoughts…..
Hi itHurts, you have some valid points here, when injured and in pain we all have bad days, go off the rails and snap now and then, that is very true. However the person who is trying to make money from people like you and me has been in the workcover for many years (1998/99) and in fact has a very good grasp on the issues we all face on a daily basis. So it is not about a “bad day”, it is about a deliberate and calculated way to make money on the backs of injured workers who need most help and at a time they’re most vulnerable. That is morally wrong, especially given that the information contained in that “guide” is freely available and much better covered here for example. This person has been injured themselves at work! Could YOU make money from a fellow injured worker in need of information? It’s not like it’s a legal guide or anything. It would be the same as if we (this blog) would start a subscription section – na na na you have to pay us $100 a month just to see our tips and tricks. Come one! The worst part is that this person advertises her/him self as an injured worker “crusader”… Does my head in. Really does.
It would be an entirely different story if such a person were to write an autobiography or a book… but just a few pages of freely available info…? Aaaawe! OUCH!
nothin like makin money from someone elses misery
@Ithurts I admire your empathy and your seeking to understand what motivates this person, but this is not about pain. This is not somebody lashing out in a moment. It is as Workcovervictim correctly pointed out a calculated ploy to extract money from injured workers – giving injured workers ‘tips’ on how to navigate the corrupt and abusive workcover system and profiting from it.
I am still fuming. I have visited that website several times but always found it to be lifeless and dull, unlike this fantastic blog. I suspect they are jealous of this blog and its success….jealousy wouldn’t be possible if they were coming from a place of what’s right instead of ‘ego’ and self interest.
This person is now also seeking to MAKE MONEY by other means-directly related to injured workers- and has very recently posted that they are seeking companies, organisations, even people to contact the site if they wish to ADVERTISE. This is absolutely disgusting and also VERY MISLEADING as anyone could potentially advertise their “services” for a FEE, even though those services may be CRAP!!!
I saw that..best way to completely ruin credibility of ‘advocacy services’? By accepting money from companies to advertise their services. Duh!!
The owner is obviously an opportunistic idiot.
We have noticed that although this “person” tweeted herself silly (to us) up to late last night, s/he has now UNFOLLOWED aworkcovervictimsdiary on twitter, shame on you – is this an “injured worker’s advocate”? please…
As I said earlier, be very grateful that we I am not naming AND shaming you.
